"She would like Jennifer Lopez to play her in the movie of her life", "He would like Patrick Swayze or Nicolas Cage to play him in the movie about his life"

Donna (20) is a full-time singer with The Doc Carroll Band and her ambition is to duet with Shania Twain. She enjoys learning about music and playing hockey.

She sings in a band with Doc Carroll and also sings on her own
Her favourite song is "From This Moment" by Shania Twain. (b'jesus)
Her parents are separated and her mother raised six children on her own. She is engaged to be married to Joe. (she should not be allowed to breed)
Her most embarrassing moment was when she skipped school and fell and broke her leg. The ambulance and fire brigade had to come and get her out of a thirty-foot drop.
If she could be a superhero she would be a Powerpuff Girl, because she thinks they're cool. (she's 20!, with a similar IQ)
She does not like people that think they are better than everyone else, because she believes that everyone is the same
She would love to present a music award to Shania Twain and do a duet with her, as she thinks she is a brilliant artist (b'jesus)
She would like Jennifer Lopez to play her in the movie of her life (hmm)

Joseph McCaul
Athlone, Co. Westmeath
17 Years of Age

Younger brother Joe was a full-time school student. However, due to the rehearsal schedule for the Eurovision, he has taken a year off (good lord). He is a fan of Paddy Casey, Maroon 5 and Liverpool football club.

He is currently studying for his Leaving Certificate and works part time in Abrakebabra
He has appeared on "The Late Late Show", on RTÉ's "Star Stream" and was an all Ireland winner.
His favourite song is "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith (b'jesus)
His most embarrassing moment was when he was singing a solo piece on stage and the power went out. He carried on singing, but nobody could hear him (that would have been a blessing)
He dislikes his red hair, as it is so bright and he also dislikes that he has so many freckles
He dislikes stubborn and snotty people (we wouldn't get on)
His worst habit is that he tends to shout when he is talking (and singing) and he also bites his nails
His ambition is to become a famous singer and to represent Ireland in the Eurovision (lucky that)
He would like to be remembered for his personality and his sweet and powerful harmonies and for his humour
If he could have written any song it would be "I Would Do Anything For Love" by Meatloaf, he thinks it is a very powerful song
He would like to duet with Whitney Houston or Celine Dion, as they have powerful voices and are beautiful too (b'jesus)
He would like Patrick Swayze or Nicolas Cage to play him in the movie about his life. (hmm)

The Singer

From a separated family of six children, The McCauls are the archetypal Oirish brood. Donna and Joe are a ginger brother and sister combination from Westmeath. The male child has decided to stop doing his A Levels to concentrate on becoming a star. The fact that he looks as comfortable on stage as Michael Jackson playing Humbert Humbert in Lolita doesn't seem to be fazing him. Nor does the fact he's a ginger, can barely sing, has a singing partner who wears bright red berets, and looks a bit like a young Matt Lucas. For her part, the best I can say is that she shouts.
In fact it's very much akin to my comments on Malta last year, and they made it into the top ten! B'jesus.

The Past

The self-proclaimed "Home of "Eurovision", the Irish, not unlike the Americans, clearly lack a sense of irony.
If I was to get pettily serious about this, it is in fact the UK who have on average the most points per contest as well as the highest placing per contest. But I won't, so instead I'll say well done to the Oirish for their record 7 wins in relatively few appearances. And without any sarcasm, may I take this opportunity to also thank them for giving the world the creative force of Michael Flately & his Riverdaaance.

The Song
They have the gut wrenching, horrifying nerve at about 2 minutes into this abysmal turd of a song to wheel out a Riverdaaancer, who proceeds to stamp out some nondescript hoof prints into the stage. Someone should have stamped this dirge out of existence as soon as it was first performed. Don't forget the Irish public voted this song the best, every week for over two months! How?!?

Gestures - 10 No comment
"Wanna" Count - 0 (1 want)

Overall
Bizarrely many Eurofans have a sneaking suspicion for this one. As for my opinion, I can only say...
Tie me into a chair...do the Parallax View indoctrination on me...do the Marathon Man root canal treatment...do whatever you will, but don't make me watch this again.
It stinks. They prowl the stage like on-heat adolescents at the youth club, shouting at their peers "if you want it, come and get it". Get back to school you deluded fools and learn your two times table so you can get a job at Abrakebabra.

In a Nutshell
"Surely the 'Home of Eurovision' has lost it once and for all"

"The Shrink Says"

There are lots of ways we can make judgments and solve problems: there are complex ways and quick ways. One quick way is to use a heuristic, which is a rule-of-thumb strategy for making more efficient decisions.
It appears that the efficient decision Ireland took, namely that the brother/sister combination chosen this year would be a success, proves that a complex problem solving routine would have been more helpful.
After listening to this song twice, I awoke to find myself in A&E with self-inflicted acute lithium carbonate poisoning. There should be a health warning with this stench of a track.

Love

Love can build you up
Love can tear you down
Love can change the world
This is what I found

Love can make you happy
Love can make you cry
Love can be the best
Till it's passed you by

Do you wanna, do you wanna
Do you wanna fall in love
Do you need it, can you feel it
Do you think you're strong enough

Can you take the highs
Can you take the lows
Can you handle everything love grows

Love can build you up
Love can tear you down
Love can change the world
This is what I found

Love can make you happy
Love can make you cry
Love can be the best
Till it's passed you by

If you want it, come and get it
Even though you know the score
I will love you, I will hate you
Then I'll love you even more

Can you handle love
Can you handle pain
Can you handle everything I'll say

Love can build you up
Love can tear you down
Love can change the world
This is what I found

Love can make you happy
Love can make you cry
Love can be the best
Till it's passed you by

Love will capture you whole
With your body and soul
Love is taking control of your senses

Love is guilty, is trialed
Love has no alibi
Love is breaking down all your defenses
Love

Love can make you sorry
Love can make you weak
Love can take you over
Even when you sleep

Love can give you heaven
Love can make you high
Love can make you cheat
And love can make you lie

Prediction Semi Final 15th
Final Don't Make It, Please!
