As ever, I will be keeping a close and beady eye on the market movers and shakers and provide my sage summarised comments. After a couple of short price favourites followed through, history shows it's increasingly difficult to spot any value pre-rehearsals. I'm ignoring the brassy big girl and the arrogant chanteuseat the top of the market and going with the be-frizzled high baller from Bern. All this is before we see them on stage so let's have a bit of fun and go with the high trash from Chisinau in the long markets.. 2021: My tips Switzerland (Win 5/1)
Moldova (Each Way 100/1) So what do I reckon? As usual it's a crap shoot, but good luck in your random acts of betting... |
Average Odds |
Notes |
|
Malta | 3/1 |
Apparently she's a force of nature. Like a land slide I presume. Likely to drift in the fortnight lead-up |
France | 4/1 |
More overhyped French style over substance. Really don't get it |
Switzerland | 5/1 |
Clearly best all round bet from the top echelons, all depends on staging |
Italy | 6/1 |
Sure rock's won before, but that had rubber masks. This is infintely better but there's no driller killer wear |
Bulgaria | 12/1 |
Soporific nonsense, neutral enough to have broader appeal but not a winner |
Iceland | 14/1 |
Unofficial holders of the crown, this is inferior but still a pleasure. Likely too amateur to excel |
Sweden | 18/1 |
Not Sweden's finest hour, but still better than most |
Lithuania | 18/1 |
Does have a usp, even if the usp is a bit shite. Finger waggling may earn top 5 |
Cyprus | 22/1 |
Presentatino could sedn this either way. One to watch |
Norway | 25/1 |
Weirdly popular as visually weird. Derviative to my ears but noiseis positive |
Finland | 25/1 |
Another passable rocky pop number, but it's rock and rock does not land well in the Med |
Romania | 28/1 |
The indie entry of the year which never wins anyway, so it's a good job this isn't up to it |
San Marino | 28/1 |
Flo Rida is just about everything & could well be just about nothing if he doesn't turn up |
Greece | 28/1 |
Another gamine young thing who maybe negated bythe other gamine young things |
Russia | 40/1 |
Continuing the proud tradition of washer women |
Ukraine | 50/1 |
Pagan nose accessories notwithstanding, this is mouth music malardy |
Israel | 66/1 |
Could go either way, a risk free solid bit of fluff |
Belgium | 80/1 |
I got a very small sneaking suspicion on this. Pure MOR sometimes excels |
Azerbaijan | 80/1 |
Derivative drivel 1 |
Croatia | 80/1 |
A relative improvement from the nation but not going to be enough |
Serbia | 100/1 |
Derivative drivel 2 |
Moldova | 100/1 |
It's so trashy as well as catchy, I almost want it to win & Moldova always look to put on a show. Watch. |
UK | 125/1 |
Usual bottom 3 likelihood |
Portugal | 150/1 |
Far too generous |
Australia | 150/1 |
Incredibly too generous |
Austria | 200/1 |
Not good |
Ireland | 200/1 |
I mean anything this low in the market can realsitically be ignored, but all told it's not a shocker |
Germany | 200/1 |
Whereas this is. Solid last place chances |
Denmark | 200/1 |
So far up it'sown backside even a vet couldn't get it out with an arm length glove |
Netherlands | 250/1 |
One of thos I quite rate so will probably finish bottom 3 |
Latvia | 250/1 |
Truly bereft of any musical merit. It does have a future within advanced interrogation techniques |
Spain | 250/1 |
Very slightly overpriced |
North Macedonia | 250/1 |
Yawn |
Czech Rep |
300/1 |
I'm not even going to comment |
Albania | 300/1 |
Cleavage catastrophe |
Slovenia | 300/1 |
Forgotten what's its even like |
Poland | 300/1 |
I'm presuming the audience won't know about the political baggage, and it isn't bottom, its mid table |
Estonia | 300/1 |
slightly hard done by but I'm not going to lose sleep |
