Paddington
Bear
"I
empathise deeply with Paddington the bear, who turned up in the big
city of London from deepest darkest Peru. He was a fish out of water,
but luckily found the kindness of the Brown family who gave him a room
and board. Sadly this is where the similarities with my experience ended,
for when I first landed in London with only my blue duffel coat and
a tatty suitcase for company, I too found a room to myself too, and
with it a large south-facing window. Unfortunately I had to sit at it
all hours of the day in all manner of positions, sometimes in a teddy,
offering my services. I often wonder what may have happened if I hadn't
spoken to that Serbian gentleman in that raincoat at the station".
