What is the secret of your success?
I think it is the rhythm of my songs. I remember my first performance in a song with Luan Zhegu called E doni dashurine (Do you love love). The rhythm fits me and my character so well and I think that the audience likes that. Albania has great singers, but they don't often have a lot of rhythm in their songs. It is normal that in a national event like Festivali i Kenges r&b, dance songs and ballads are performed, but the rhythm is essential. This was proven in the last festival, where good performances and rhythm reigned.

Are you going to sing the song in Albanian or in English at the Eurovision Song Contest?
I will sing the song in English, so the public can perceive it easily. The composer Adrian Hila is working on the remix. Compared to our performance at the Festivali i Kenges we are thinking of an act in which I will be more involved in the choreography. I hope it is going to be a special performance.

Your song is about the wedding and Albanian traditions. Was the song composed on purpose for the Eurovision Song Contest?
In the end, we are Albanians, and in a European festival we cannot represent ourselves as English or French. Through this song we can bring the culture of Albania to the audience.
Neser shkoj (I’ll go tomorrow) is a song dedicated to the wedding, an important moment in everybody’s life. The song is about a girl who is talking to her mother a day before her wedding. The drums are forewarning the wedding and then the beautiful atmosphere of an Albanian wedding ceremony shows up. Every detail is well considered. Not only the drums, but also the ballet, the costumes,.... All the components fit in the song, like the atmosphere brought on stage: girls dancing and a boy performing with a drum create the idea of the Albanian wedding, while my dress belongs to a modern bride.

The Singer

Ledina Celo has the look of a Eurovision old-timer about her. An olive skinned lady, with half a swan around her waist, she strode the stage at their national final, jiggling her hips with such strength that you can only presume Albania have an inclusive health service, and belting out her track with gusto. Ledina presented their first national final last year, and was so impressed by the chance for a free week in a foreign country that she then applied and won through in December. As for Ledina herself, It seems like the Albanian entries will always have to be shrouded with an air of mystery. Not a lot of information is available about her to be honest

The Past

Well, they didn't have a history in the contest before last year, but my lord didn't they come out from under the cloud of Norman Wisdom. It almost started to look like an incredible turn of events would occur and they would win, but it was better that they didn't, since I don't think even the largest available underground bunker will be suitable to host the event.

The Song

"Ri Ti Da" ad nauseum. And that's about it, but at least it's a "traditional" song. Of particular note here with this song, are the french maid fiddling/drumming backing singers, who find 1001 things to do with their instruments in the 3 minutes the song is on for. The range of choreography is quite staggering.
And while Albania's effort is a good 1 minute too long, it shows that Albania have quickly learnt that a woman standing next to a piano and singing well just isn't enough anymore to win the thing.
You also have to presume that the crowd's jeers and whistles at the end of her performance on the video was a sign of affection.

Overall
Ledina has the luxury of going straight into the final, and she needed it. This is all a bit familiar but without the charm of a small nation pluckily banging on about nothing with a smile on its face. It actually has production values, and the Albanians have pulled out all of their sparse stops for Ledina. Even though, I can't see any other fate then a relegation this year I'm afraid, Ri ti da, or no Ri ti da's.

In a Nutshell
"I'd rather listen to a cello played by a dog than Ms Celo playing this dog"

"The Shrink Says"

Ms Celo may well encounter a difficult transition from the germinal stage of her nation's Eurovision development. An textbook example of priming mechanisms, Ledina has been force fed the success of Anjeza last year and her subconscious has propagated the same song style as a result. Also of note is my fear that she has a partially developed Wernickes Area of the brain, redolent in developing suitable language skills to carry the song off.

Neser Shkoj

Mos u trishto
Ti e kishe enderruar një vello te bardhe
Nena ime me beko dhe mos qaj
Nëser do te shkoj
E fundit nate

A e mban mend
Sa e kishe imagjinuar fustanin e bardhe
Edhe une kam fatin si c'do vajze
E di do me mungojne
Të embelat fjale

Ndoshta do qaj
Se malli ty do të marre, do të marre

E ri ti da, ri ti da
Le të bie një daulle
E ri ti da, ri ti da
E gjithe bota le të tundet
Kënga te filloje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
O po dasma mos mbaroje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

E ri ti da, ri ti da
Le të bie një daulle
E ri ti da, ri ti da
E gjithe bota le të tundet
Kënga te filloje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
O po dasma mos mbaroje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

Nëser do shkoj
Do të dal une nga kjo porte me yllin e bardhe
Me percill ti nena ime dhe ma fal
Lotin e arte
Të embelat fjale

Ndoshta do qaj
Se malli ty do të marre, do të marre

E ri ti da, ri ti da
Le të bie një daulle
E ri ti da, ri ti da
E gjithe bota le të tundet
Kënga te filloje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
O po dasma mos mbaroje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

E ri ti da, ri ti da
Le të bie një daulle
E ri ti da, ri ti da
E gjithe bota le të tundet
Kënga te filloje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
O po dasma mos mbaroje
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

I'll Go Tomorrow

Please don't be sad
You've dreamt about the white veil
Mother has blessed me, I won't cry
I'll go tomorrow
This is the last night

Do you remember
How much you imagined the white gown
I have the same fate as any other girl
I know I will miss
Those sweet words

Maybe I'll cry
Because I'll miss you, miss you

Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
Let the drums roll
Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
May the world tremble
Let the song start
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
The wedding will not stop
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
Let the drums roll
Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
May the world tremble
Let the song start
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Oh the wedding doesn't have to stop
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

I'll go tomorrow
I will be out the door with the white star
Greet me out, mother, and begift me
With the golden tear
Those sweet words

Maybe I'll cry
Because you will miss me, miss me

Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
Let the drums roll
Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
May the world tremble
Let the song start
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
The wedding will not stop
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti

Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
Let the drums roll
Eh ri ti da, ri ti da
May the world tremble
Let the song start
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
The wedding will not stop
(Ti ti ti ti ta)
Ti ti ta ti
