Constantinos was born in the town of Limassol, in Cyprus. At the age of seventeen, he became the first Cypriot artist to achieve triple platinum sales, with an album that was recorded in Cyprus and not in Athens where the core of the music industry is located. Within a very short time he became a big star in his home-island. In 1996 he represented Cyprus in the Eurovision song contest in Oslo, Norway with the ballad “Mono gia mas” (Only for us) which reached the 9th place.

After Eurovision he started his career in Greece. His first collaboration was with Greece’s biggest stars, Anna Vissi and Sakis Rouvas. In 1999 he accepted the proposal from the famous Cypriot composer, George Theofanous, to be the lead singer in the first boy-band of Greece, ONE.
ONE became very popular and commercially successful in Greece and Cyprus and they reached platinum sales. In 2002 Konstantinos was again in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn, Estonia, as the leader singer of ONE representing Cyprus with the song “Gimme” and reaching the 6th place.

In September 2003, Constantinos started his solo career with the album “H agapi sou paei” (Love becomes you). He went straight into the No1 spot in the Greek charts and the album reached gold sales in Cyprus. In that album he had a duet with super star Anna Vissi, a song which became a big hit. Constantinos is also a very successful composer and lyricist and he has composed songs for the most famous Greek singers.

In September 2004 he released his second solo album with the title “Idiotiki parastasi” (Private show). The album became gold in Cyprus immediately and is a great radio hit in Greece. The CyBC (RIK – Cyprus public television) assigned Constantinos to be the performer of the Cypriot entry in the 50th Eurovision song contest in Kiev. Constantinos himself wrote two songs and Mike Connaris, the composer of the Cyprus Eurovision entry 2004, composed another two for the Cypriot pre-selection.

The Singer

Another entrant returning to the contest, Constantinos chose his song early doors so he could jump on the national pre-selection gravy train between January and March this year. It must have made him enough cash to afford a photo shoot. I suppose the biggest shock this year is that Constantinos isn't normally to be seen bedecked out in a white suit. Sadly his pink shirt seems to be resolutely open down to the navel as he strides around like the "big I am".

His colleague Ms Patroklou can be seen waving her arms at the back and going "e la la" like a Lancastrian watching the Teletubbies.

The Past

12 points guaranteed from Greece, and apart from that have largely been a mid-table embarrassment. Barring a lass from Kent last year, Cyprus are invariably represented by blokes in unbuttoned white shirts, gold pendants, and a gorilla on their chest. Nuff said.

The Song
Well, no surprises again. Cyprus have come up with a Cypriot song, of big drums, a dangerous leaning dancing routine which can't be good for the ankle ligaments, and most obviously a direct copy of Greece's third place from last year. As such you can't rule it out, even when that's the first thing I want to do with Constantinos, the self-assured berk.

Gestures - 29 The video was shot in a smallworkshop, in order that the backing lumps could hit seven bells out or strategically placed oil drums which sound uncannily like proper drums. Elena Patroklou also sounds uncannily like an air raid siren. All 29 gestures are of Constantinos fingering the audience, or revolving, arms outstretched. Yawn.
"Wanna" Count - 0

Overall
One of the more inconsequential efforts, that deserve little comment. It does have a good draw in the final, and could do adequately.

In a Nutshell
"Can't stand him, e's toss"

"The Shrink Says"

Is Constantinos the master of his own domain? Does he believe his life is pre-determined and everything that happens is fated? If so, his internal locus of control is strong, a psychological characteristic which should bear him in strong stead. The lyrics state "Ela is the word for action".
In actual fact, I am told the word "ela" means "come" in Greek. Perhaps Constantinos would be best served by getting back in the classroom, rather than knocking about with every lady that takes his eye.

Ela Ela

(Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela*)
(Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela)

You're there, I'm here
No need to fear
Feel around me the desire
Search my body, reach the fire
Just cross the line
You have no time
My persistance is outrageous
You'll be mine 'cause I'm contagious

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Come baby, come baby
Get the meaning
Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'll make your heart go bang, bang

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Come baby, come baby
Get the meaning
Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'm the king of the night
Let me show you tonight who I am
Ela, ela, ela, ela

(Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela)
(Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela)

Mysterious, delirious
Let me be the key to passion
Ela is the word for action

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Come baby, come baby
Get the meaning
Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'll make your heart go bang, bang

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Come baby, come baby
Get the meaning
Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'm the king of the night
Let me show you tonight who I am

(Come baby, come baby)
(Come baby, come baby)
(Come baby, come baby)
(Come baby, come baby)

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Yeah, come baby, come baby
Get the meaning
Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'll make your heart go bang, bang

Come baby, come baby
Get the feeling
Yeah, come baby, come baby
Ela, ela, ela, ela
I'm the king of the night
Let me show you tonight who I am

Ela, ela, ela, ela, ela
I'm the king of the night
Let me show you tonight who I am
Come baby, come baby

*ela = come
