The Spin

From the land of eagles, a new and powerful voice takes flight. Frederik Doci, an Italian/Albanian hailing from the lakes and mountains of Albania's historic Shkodra, is on a mission to capture the hearts and minds of music lovers everywhere. Doci has electrified the stage all over the world with the voice of Caruso, the heart of Elvis Presley and the soul of a gypsy. Not only does he scale the operatic heights of his deep baritone and enchanting tenor range, he also melts hearts with his seductive and sensual romantic voice. What sets Frederik apart from the opera stars and crooners is his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist and accomplished songwriter. The world will discover on Frederik's fourth and latest CD, Canterina, that he not only sings the language of love, he performs songs in six different languages.

After a brief career in acting, Frederik's recording debut came out of Italy where he played guitar and sang with Pagina d'Album. The album Canta Frederik was well received in Italy and the subsequent video was aired on several TV stations there. Frederik made inroads with his second CD Sono Gitano, when it became a best seller in Italy. The CD continues to be a best seller in Frederik's home country and parts of Eastern Europe. After invitations to several major events, such as the Peace Festival in Romania, where he sang a song for the late Mother Teresa, the Miss Europa pageant, and other key festivals, Frederik set sail for the U.S., landing in San Diego, California. It was here that he was courted by the Christian College Heritage and commissioned to record his third CD, Frederik and Friends. Featuring American Christian sacred songs, Frederik took the bold step of doing his first project in English.

Frederik's new CD features songs in English as well as Spanish, Italian, Greek, French, and naturally, Albanian. The album captures all of Frederik's influences: classical, folk, gypsy, pop, and rock. He fuses it all into one world-class project. The album was produced by George A. Gesner of GAG Order Productions and recorded at Manhattan's Magik Music with renown programmer/sound designer, Harold Stephan (Amelia's Dream) plus an international, world-class cast of musicians. The project was mixed by Miklos Malek (Anastacia, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion) and mastered at Sterling Sound with famed engineer Tom Coyne.

The Singer

Mr Ndoci is taking his wife on a busman's holiday north, which is never a good idea. Especially when you consider the plaintive wailing sound...mostly coming from the wife when she realises they can't afford anywhere to stay.

A nice amount of random arm waving aside, the video was a emotive lakeside affair, slightly enlivened by Fred embracing an interesting hippy Fu Manchu look, as well as the goiter covering neckwear of his lovely lady wife. I fear big bad Fred will have to continue with his diverting pimp approach, bedecked as he is in a crushed velvet suit, vinyl shirt and pendant. "Hear my plea...shag pile carpeting 50% off only for this week...bargain".

The Past

Well, they didn't have a history in the contest before last year, but my lord didn't they come out from under the cloud of Norman Wisdom. It almost started to look like an incredible turn of events would occur and they would win, but it was better that they didn't, since I don't think even the largest available underground bunker will be suitable to host the event.

The Song

The Baltic Sea hasn't seen this many wails since "the great cull of 1898". I've not yet made up my mind whether it's his dress sense, or the noise coming out of my speakers which is the more offensive. Very much harking back to the long-since forgotten days of violinists hammering away at their strings down in the pit, "Hear my plea" is a dramatic ballard with Fred passionately emoting his desire for the fitment of a wig without fear of the cheese cloth slipping over his eyebrows.

Overall

Ethnic as they come this one, and as I'm lucky enough to have the "EP" version which comes in at a mind-numbing 4 minutes 35 seconds (you really feel every second). We're back into the realms of Warren Beatty's interrogation in the "Parallax View" with this one. Not only would I advise a toilet break at this point, I would also suggest the toilet in question is sound proofed with triple-ply Andrex.

In a Nutshell
"God is nowhere near here, Fred"

the philosopher says...

complex question The informal fallacy of framing an issue as if it involved genuine alternatives while implicitly assuming the truth of the desired conclusion. Example: "When Frederik starts singing will you be leaving the room within 15 seconds or within a miunute? In either case, you acknowledge that the song Frederik is attempting to sing is gash." Denying the presumption that lies behind both alternatives (in this case, that you will leave the room within 15 seconds) would eliminate the supposed evidence that the conclusion is true.

Dikur për të mos ardhur kurrë
Ktheva shpinën dhe hodha një gur
Mu duk se jeta mori nur
Sa shumë eca e nuk ndala kurrë

Miliona gurë i preka
Dhe për andej nga erdha
Ktheva gjoksin, ah...

Një det me lot e gjeta
Dhe njerez që si unë
Një gur kerkonin, hah...

Kthema Zot
Kthema mallin që më more
Kur më nise larg, ah...

Kthema Zot
Vetëm loti thyen gurin
Që e hodha pas

Të lutem kthema Zot
Ti kthema lotin që më more
Kur më nise larg

Të lutem kthemë Zot
Se vetëm malli thyen burrin
Për tu kthyer pas, oh...

(Ah... ah... he...)
(Ah... ah... ah... he...)
Hah...

Kthema Zot
Kthema mallin që më more
Kur më nise larg

Kthema Zot
Vetëm loti thyen gurin
Që e hodha pas, ah...

Të lutem kthema Zot
Ti kthema lotin që ma more
Kur më nise larg

Të lutem kthemë Zot
Se vetëm malli thyen burrin
Për tu kthyer pas

Hear My Plea

(Hah... hahahah... he...)
(Ladadide... hehehe hehehe...)
(Hah... hahahah... he...)
(Ladi ladudode... hehehe hehehe...)

At a time of no comeback
I turned away and threw a stone
I thought my life had taken grace
So I kept on walking and never stopped

I touched a million stones
And from the place I left
I turned my chest, ah...

I found a sea of tears
And people that just like me
Searched for a stone, hah...

Bring me God
Bring me the nostalgia that you took from me
When you sent me away, ah...

Bring me God
Only the tears can break the rock
That I left behind

Please bring me God
Bring me the tears that you took from me
When you sent me away

Please bring me God
Only the nostalgia can break the man
And make him return, oh...

(Ah... ah... he...)
(Ah... ah... ah... he...)
Hah...

Bring me God
Bring me the nostalgia that you took from me
When you sent me away

Bring me God
Only the tears can break the rock
That I left behind, ah...

Please bring me God
Bring me the tears that you took from me
When you sent me away

Please bring me God
Only the nostalgia can break the man
And make him return

Ah... ah...
