The Spin When she was young, Guri Schanke wanted to become an interior designer, but thankfully she could not stay away from the stage for very long. Guri has quite an impressive list of merits so far in her career. She's been in over 20 plays, musicals and television shows and has held leading roles in Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors and Chess amongst others. She has also dubbed cartoons for Disney and she is the official face of Loréal in Norway. Guri is a dancer, a singer and an actor and over the years she has become a cherished part of Norwegian Showbiz. Her Dancing experience came in handy as she secured second place in the Norwegian edition of Strictly Come Dancing. Guri's latest achievment, winning the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix is a lifelong dream come true. The song "Ven A Bailar Conmigo" meaning "Come Dance With Me" is written especially for Guri by Swedish composer Thomas G:son, who also wrote the Spanish entry this year. Not just everyone has a hotel spa facility named after
them! Oh, and then there's the rapidly becoming "Mr Eurovision

Taking over when Ralf Siegel hit senility, Thomas is intent on having 42 Latino tainted songs in the competition, thus guaranteeing success but removing any musical credibility. It is very unlikely he will get success this year with "En Var Bailar Conmigo", a catchy slice of pop nonsense, which left Spanish viewers utterly bemused during a pre-contest performance. |

| Overall It's old fashioned, good natured fun, and so is ruled out as a matter of course. Norway are more likely to bomb big style, and so I can't recommend it to win I'm afraid. Up just before a break won't help, nor will the copycat Maltese lump that follows it, but I still have a sneaking suspicion that this will be helped by the orc backlash factor. So, with some trepidation I've saying this will qualify, and give the Norwegians an opportunity to name an entire swimming pool complex after her. In a Nutshell |
