"Christine Guldbrandsen has the voice of a glacier. Crystal clear and powerful. Christine offers a complete sound picture. Pure and beautiful. There's something dreamy about Christine's singing. |

Christine is already about to become a well-known name in Norwegian popular music, and now her first album is released. She has taken part in writing the songs and the lyrics. 'I can vouch
for the results one hundred per cent,' Christine contently states. She
doesn't think she belongs to the somewhat famous 'Bergen wave' (i.e.
Sondre Lerche, Röyksopp, etc.). 'My mode of expression is different,'
Christine declares. In addition to being a unique singing talent, Christine is an ordinary
18-year-old. She's now in her last year at high school. Her hobbies
are skiing, cars, jazz ballet and, of course, singing. Christine admits
that her singing has occupied most of her time during the last year.
She has worked a lot on her debut album and she receives lessons in
singing and piano playing. Her expectations to her debut album are fittingly modest: 'I hope for the best, which is to be able to make a living of my singing. To work full time with music is my big dream,' Christine reveals and calls herself a conditional optimist. According to those who know her, the 18-year-old is a girl with guts. And according to everyone who listens to her singing, Christine Guldbrandsen is the new great voice from Bergen. (http://www.christine.bz/en.php) |

Swathed in a bacofoil bustiere, Christine falsettos her way through a song about dancing with elves. Not, you would think, a winner, and certainly not one for your CD rack, but this type of effort does have a stamp of approval in Euroland, and it's got just enough pace to avoid the deadly ballard territory. Singing fifth, Norway are the first half-decent song in the final which should also stand them in good stead. But on the other hand, there's a brief violin solo (which never works), there's no "5" in the year, and it's Norway we're taking about here. All said and done though, I'm going to blindly have faith in Norway, and say that ElfDance could hit the top five this year. "Elf warning. Help protect your children. Don't let them listen to your Eurosong". |

Christine adores...Statler I caught up with Ms Gulbrandsen at the whale meat restaurant..."I like these two puppets, I like their sort of humor, and how they constantly critized poor Fozzy Bear, and I want them back on my TV-screen!!" fails to says Christine, and who's to argue. I know I don't |

“A couple of bars of the song
are actually from a very old Norwegian folk tune, for example. Plus, we
use the Hardanger fiddles to give it a Norwegian flavour and the lyrics
are quoting from Norwegian mythology, with mentions of elves etc.” |
