"I do not think she has shown any new sexual art..."

Music by: Boris Novkovic & Franjo Valentic
Lyrics by: Severina & Goran Bregovic

Severina Vuckovic was born in Split on 21 April 1972 into a working class family, the third child (after Zdenka and Mare) of Ana and Sever. As a young girl she was a member of MOZAIK and at the age of 10 she was a member of one musical called “Frane Strapalo”. As a young teenager she entered to music school, but she never finished because she started to sing professionally very soon. After winning these prizes, Severina entered the DEMO-X competition, winning the first prize and the chance to record her first album. When she was 17 years she had issued her first album called "Severina". She has had 12 albums published, and has also worked with many popular Croatian musicians such are Arsen Dedic, Matija Dedic, Boris Novkovic, Zeljko Bebek, Niksom Bratosom and many others. She has won many festival-awards and her albums achieved high sales.

She spent her time dancing, playing the piano, singing and acting. Later she joined KUD Mozaik, an association for culture and art in Split. Severina later joined the band ‘Treca smjena’ (‘Third Shift’) as their singer.

In the mid-80s, she won a series of young talents competitions including ‘Prvi pljesak’ (‘First applause’) in Split and ‘Daruvarski susreti’ (‘Meetings in Daruvar’). Severina was also voted best singer at the ‘Studentsko ljeto’ (‘Student Summer’) festival.

The first hit single from her 1998 album became the anthem of the Croatian national football team during the World Cup in France. In 2005, she entered and won the DORA competition.

And I thought Eurosong was a family show. Just when you think that the competition has no surprises, along comes a pouty Christian sex-symbol role model, with a sideline in home-made pornography, singing about a load of codswallop & high heeled shoes.
I immediately took a shining to this song. I think "Moje Stikla" appeals to my irreverent side. In a competition which is sadly lacking with loony tunes, Severina mashes her way through an utterly ridiculous tune about how sexy her shoes make her feel. I must say what I've seen of her in that hotel room, she didn't need shoes to get the desired effect.
Watch out for the startling original rhyming use of the words "Africa" and "Paprika", two words which on the face of it have absolutely nothing in common at all, especially in relation to a song about high heels. Severina is a fantastic woman, and may well steal the Ruslana crown of manically stunning performance. Watch out for this girl.

So it's a welcome departure from the ubiquitous Croatian De Burgh type fayre. I for one am glad that they sneaked straight into the final following Serbia's last minute crisis. With the good draw they've landed, Croatia could well scare enough people into voting for them to make it straight into the final 2007.

Roobarb & Custard

"Who over 30 does not remember and cherish this cartoon? Brilliant theme tune, surreal and clever humour (of that odd, almost druggy quality) and the animation that seemed to be curly felt tip drawings by five year olds. Add Richard Brier's superb narration........perfect recipe. What is not to love??? It really has influenced my home made videos deeply, what with that grainy, wobbly look only properly recreated on a water bed", Severina failed to add.

Is it Severina the lady who was watched sliding around by millions whilst bedding a man.
or is it Natasha Kaplinsky who bedded her partner after being watched sliding around on a dancefloor by millions

Moja Stikla

Jer još trava nije nikla
Tamo gdje je stala moja štikla!

(Dodi, dodi, dodi)
Hop, hop, hop
(Ajde pile moje)

Tika taka, oko pola tri
Štipnut ceš me da se ne vidi
Znam ja dobro takve kao ti
Ðavoli su tvoji kumovi
Zvrc, zvrc, tražit ceš moj broj
Kuc, kuc, kucaj nekog drugoj!
(Sojcice djevojcice, daj obuci carapice)

Jer još trava nije nikla
Tamo gdje je stala moja štikla!

Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda daj moja, moja štikla!

Šije šete

(Hop, hop, crc, vrc)

Tika taka, oko pola tri
Gricnut ceš me da se ne vidi
Zlatan prsten, tanki brcici
Ma znam ja dobro takve kao ti
Zvrc, zvrc, tražit ceš moj broj
Šic, šic, bježi ajde drugoj!
(Sojcice djevojcice, daj obuci carapice)

Jer još trava nije nikla
Tamo gdje je stala moja štikla!

Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda daj moja, moja štikla!

(Zumba, zumba, zumba, zumba)
(Sijeno, slama, sir, salama)
(Riži, biži, teca, leca)
(Cikla nikla, cikla rikla)
Afrika paprika!
Ajde moja

Šije šete

My Stilettos

Because the grass has yet to grow
Where my high heel has stepped!

(Come, come, come)
Oh, oh, oh
(Come on, dear)

Tick tack, around 2:30
You'll pinch me so it's not seen
I know well those like you
Devils are your godfathers
Ring, ring, you'll look for my number
Knock, knock, knock at another's door!
(Fair girl, put some socks on)

Because the grass has yet to grow
Where my high heel's stepped!

Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda daj my high heel!

Šije šete*
Šije oto
Šije nove
Šije mine!
(And again, baby)

S-s-s-s sex
(Hop, hop, crc, vrc)

Tick tack, around 2:30
You'll bite me where it can't be seen
Golden rings, a thin moustache
Oh, I know them well, those like you
Ring, ring, you'll look for my number
Shoo, shoo, run to the other one!
(Fair little girl, put some socks on)

Because the grass has yet to grow
Where my high heel's stepped!

Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda daj my high heel!

(Zumba, zumba, zumba, zumba)
(Hay, straw, cheese, salami)
(Riži, biži, teca, leca)
(Beetroot's grown, beetroot's died)
Africa paprika!
Come on, girl

Šije šete
Šije oto
Šije nove
Šije, mine!
Šije, šije, šije, šije
Mine, mine!
Come on!

Because the grass has yet to grow
Where my high heel's stepped!

Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda da ojda da daj
Ojda da ojda daj my high heel!

Virtuous Croatian pop star's secret sex tape leaked

ZAGREB (Reuters) - A top Croatian pop star asked a Zagreb court to watch a private movie in which she enjoys a lusty sex romp to see whether her copyright was violated by a website that showed it to the public.

Severina Vuckovic, 32, sued the www.index.hr web portal for publishing shots of her having sex with a man later identified as a wealthy Bosnian Croat businessman who is married with children. Her lawyers demanded the video be shown in court.

In a separate motion, the defendants also asked that a court-appointed sex expert see the video to determine if Vuckovic had "demonstrated anything not previously seen in the porn industry", which could qualify for copyright, Hina said. "I do not think she has shown any new sexual art," the portal's owner, Matija Babic, told the agency. The stills and whole 11-minute video clip quickly became the hottest Internet item in the former Yugoslav republic, where Vuckovic is a sex symbol but has often projected a modest and religious image.

Vuckovic said it was stolen from her private collection.

“Why did I choose to sing about my shoes?” said Croatia’s Severina Vuckovic. “People say to men, ‘Why do you watch football all the time?’ It’s because, for them, football is the most important thing in the world. With me, shoes are the most important thing. I’ve got over 300 pairs… although, compared to Imelda Marcos, I’m just a baby in the world of shoes.”

“The rehearsal went very well,” she said. “Everything is perfect. It’s really nice. That was just me warming up, though. In the final, I’ll explode. We’re looking forward to a big, big show on Saturday and we want to wish the best of luck to everyone in the Semi-Finals on Thursday as well. We’ll be watching.”
