"But it was Tina's energetic nature that brought her to the world of aviation soon afterwards."

Music by: Tina Karol
Lyrics by: Pavlo Shilko

Tina Karol is perhaps the only Ukrainian singer who has managed to combine Ukrainian army morale and peace-keeping experience with a meteoric musical career - and a winning smile!

Tina Karol was born on the 25 January 1985 in the far North of Russia - in the town of Orotukan, Magadan to a family of ethnic Ukrainians. Tina's parents were engineers. The day she was born it was very cold - the temperature was about 50 degrees below zero!

When she was 12, Tina began singing professionally. Her managerial abilities and skills as a producer came to light during her years of her study at the famous Kyiv State Glier Higher Music College. As a young student, Tina created her own band, which was totally self-supporting.

As part of her studies at musical school, Tina had to take part in 'academic concerts', in which each student had to give a fully-fledged performance for the teachers. Usually such concerts are not very lively, because the professors prefer to evaluate the performances in silence, professionally, and reservedly. But Tina's student concerts attracted her friends and other people who had heard about her and wanted to see her perform. Tina's performances tended to end in rapturous applause, which was a bit annoying for the teachers. They didn't consider such recognition acceptable.

But it was Tina's energetic nature that brought her to the world of aviation soon afterwards. Today, she studies at the Kyiv National Aviation University and is the soloist of the Armed Forces Song and Dance Ensemble.

In 2005 Tina Karol carried out peacemaking missions to two of the world's trouble spots - Iraq and Kosovo. The singer performed to international peace-making contingents in Baghdad and Al-Kut (Iraq), and it wasn't only Ukrainian soldiers that applauded her; American, Georgian and British troops also responded enthusiastically. In Kosovo, the Ukrainian singer was invited to Paris by French peacemakers. Because of these performances, the Ukrainian Minister of Defence decorated the singer with a state order for peacemaking missions.

Now Tina Karol has an opportunity to realise her precious dream - and support talented children all over the world. She wants to help those children who are gifted but lack wealthy parents and, thus, the opportunity to improve.

Every year there's something about the Ukrainian entrant that I find quite disconcerting. Blue crotch, Xena, Phil Mitchell, now a young slip of a girl, who sounds like my Aunt. This is going to go either way in the semi. The ethnic beat is very powerful Euro-wise, and it's easy to make an argument for this to fly into the final. We know all too well that Ukraine doesn't hold back, and this performance is no different, but it's just too repetitive to trouble the leaders come the Premiership. Oh, and there's always that vocal gymnastics bit which I still don't like in practice, even though it may succeed in theory. She's a looker is Ms Karol, and I'll say nothying more on that subject. So like a French film, it's all about style over substance, but for three minutes how much substance do you need at Eurovision?

"Big things sometimes come in small packages"

Dr Bunsen Honeydew

"Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his hapless assistant Beaker have devoted their lives to creating crazy gadgets that most people were unaware they needed". Tina explained not really " I've studied the good Doctor. I know he is a graduate of the prestigious Carnegie-Melonhead University, where he majored in quantum physics, illegible handwriting and pointless miniaturization, while studying under the tutelage of that esteemed scientist and badminton player, Doctor Pinhole Burns" added Ms Karol. And you can't argue with that

Show Me Your Love

Hi, baby, here I am
Feel like I’m born again
You see it in my eyes – my heart is on fire
Don’t hide your love away – don’t wait another day

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why I came.

I love the way you shine
Love when you cross the line
Just give me one more sign – show me your desire
Don’t hide your love away – don’t wait another day

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why I came.

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why I came

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why I came.

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why I came.

Don’t hide your love away
Show feelings everyday

Show me your love
Show me how much you care
Talk to my heart
Whisper my name
Show me your love
I need you more than air
You’ll be my part
That’s why, that’s why I came.

“I’m a singer for the Ukrainian military orchestra and I sing in military uniform,” she added. “It’s so nice. The Ukrainian military puts a lot of effort into peace keeping".
