Ruslana describes "Wild Dances" as a song including the drive of rock music, energy of modern dance music, variety of 'mountain rhythms' and motives. Wild dances sounds very promising and Europe can prepare for an impressive show. Ruslana's performance at the Eurovision Song Contest will be accompanied by an exciting dancing show performed by Zhyttia Ballet. The dancing will be a synthesis of modern dancing art and national Ukrainian rhythmoplastics. The authors of the dancing concept will try to eliminate the border between the Ancient and the Modern, by developing a unique dance style, which can potentially become a hit at discothèques.

A voice of great range, the excellent technique of performance, “drive” and expression together with unique and original style of music – this is the singer Ruslana. She can be different – romantic or expressive but her songs are always full of optimism. She sings, composes and arranges music, conducts the symphony orchestra, organizes performances and projects, movies and video-clip shooting.
The first project was “Wind Bells” (1996). A magnificent concert with participation of the rock-group, symphony orchestra and choir, devoted to the 500-th anniversary of the Renaissance, was held in the ancient castle and in the Lviv Opera House. At the time of widespread phonograms, her project raised up the wave of LIVE-sound in Ukraine. The film “Wind bells of Olessky Castle” became “The Film of the Year” at the TV-festival “Golden era” (1997).
“The Tour about the Castles of Ukraine” (1999) attracted attention to the ancient castles of Ukraine, which are now under threat of being destroyed and need our attention and care.
“Sunrise”, both the song and video clip (1998), became the symbol of the singer. It was a discovery of the fairy world of Ukrainian Carpathians, scenes of Ukrainian sunrises. In 1998 Ruslana presented her first album “A Moment of Spring” (“Myt Vesny”). The “Golden Fire-bird - 98” prize was awarded to Ruslana for “Svitanok” in two nominations as the song of the year and as the video-clip of the year.
Christmas projects(1996-2003). They included Christmas concerts with the theatre and ballet performances, the musical “The Final Christmas of the 1990s” (Ruslana got “The movie of the year” award for this musical in 1999), the animated cartoon clip “Ballad about the princess” and European unplugged “Christmas with Ruslana”. The climax of the passed millennium proved to be Ruslana’s participation, together with the biggest national TV-channel “Inter”, in the BBC project “Today 2000”.
"Ruslana is planning more expeditions to the Carpathians, but the rest of her time before Eurovision will be dedicated to studio work, rehearsals and promotional activities."

The Singers
I didn't much care which singer was chosen this year...all I wanted to know was which circus performer they'll be hiring. So imagine my surprise when Ruslana and her performing troupe of acrobats were released onto a unprepared Europe.
There's tambourine antics all over her website. We have a Bez!
Her likes seem to be jeeps and furry knickers. We have a Jeremy Clarkson!
Ruslana seems to be somewhat of a showgirl, but not in a dodgy filmic Burt Reynolds for a pimp type of way. Shame!

The Past
From the ridiculous to the sublime. Ukraine first entered the contest only two years back, when they sent a falsetto warbling peculiarity of a bloke called Alexander who belted out a shocking song standing next to a bright blue rotating groin. He got more points than him and the codpiece deserved, but the following year Ukraine made up for it. In what will be looked back on as the occasion Eurosong stepped up the pace, the performance of Ruslana blew Istanbul away. "Wild Dances" is now the goal to aim for in terms of nonsensical lyrics, toothy grins, costume, and most of all performance. The EBU have much to thank Ukraine for already.

The Song

"Hey!" Along with Sweden, this was the last song to be released to ESC fans back in March, fans who were desperate after a largely disappointing 34 came before them. Ukraine in particular didn't let me down.
I think we can well expect cave girl antics from Wild Horses, although actual wild horses may be a long shot.
It's heavy on the drums, big on the Heys!, and there is a tremendous amount of incomprehensible nonsense in the lyrics. Which for me at least spells not only great Euro pap, but also a cracking chance of winning. "Hey!"

"na na na" factor - Low
nonsense factor - High

Overall

From this year on, Ukraine will give their votes last, not only making the country instrumental in deciding the winner, but also giving a heaven sent opportunity for failing media starlets across the country to boost their flagging careers.
As for there own chances, they are shit hot. I can't wait for this one. Choreography will be the key, as everything is in place to make it a success (costumes, woman with a fine set of teeth, nonsense universal lyrics), but can they accurately represent the bonkers majesty of the video with only the allowed 6 people on stage? (note: Ruslana, make sure one of them is that Taras Bulba lookalike. Great!)

In a Nutshell
"I think she may invade somewhere"
