Diana and Simon met directly on stage, where they were members of a band playing mostly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After two years working with them the two decided to devote all their time to their own career and, not much later, Platin was born. The two call themselves “absolutely crazy“ because on their concerts they manage to perform around 600 pop songs, the most known ballads, country songs, the best hits from the last three decades, rock and Latino songs, jazz standards and the latest hits still playing on the European radio stations and not forgetting about 40 of their own songs.

Some of their own were presented on some of the most important Slovenian music festivals, where they present themselves not only as performers but also as authors of the melody, the text and the arrangement. These songs and a great many of other songs for different performers are produced at their own music studio. But still they love to perform live on stage as a duet, when they are guests on some music events, or performing on banquets, openings and other special occasions, or performing with their band, when they play concerts.

Rather sweetly, they got married immediately after getting hammered in the semis. Aah.

The Singers

Yet again, after a previous year's performance that was both visually thrilling and disturbing in equal measure, a country have followed it up with the run-of-the-mill conservative option. Out goes the bright pink matching leotards, and in comes a remarkably self-aware duo who would look better suited on a moving to the country/building our dream home type of TV programme, rather than a celebration of all that is Europoean kitsch TV-fest. Bring back Karmen, all is forgiven.

The Past

Slovenia are one of the relative newcomers to the Eurosong fold, and are yet to have any real points success. Ask most ignorant Brits, and they'll be hard pressed to identify where Slovenia actually is. Their Eurosong entries have the same effect on me. I vaguely recall that they had a woman in a ginger wig at the start of their ESC career, entered a couple of lookers at the turn of the decade (sadly not literally), and then put forward three airline stewardess drag artists, who were a distraction if nothing else. Thinking about it, when Slovenia don't choose a woman as their representative, they more often than not squeeze a man into a dress to compensate. What a funny nation!

The Song

I could have wrote this whilst sitting on the crapper, having a particularly uncomfortable shite. And I don't have any song-writing ability at all. I can, however, guff a better track than this.
You run out of things to say about pointless dirge such as this. So I'll stop.

Overall

NO! Don't stay forever. Leave now! Out! Go on, get out! And don't come back either. That told 'em. Even their proposed wedding in Istanbul during Eurovision week does not melt my heart of steel.

Stay Forever

C'mon let's fly away, girl.
Up on cloud number nine I wish to fly.
You're the most precious bird.
Waiting for you, that's all I need to know.

Wait and see how it's gonna be,
Hold my hand, just don't let go.
Birds of the feather fly together.
But time will tell, people say so.

Stay forever and ever,
You will always be my baby.
Stay forever,
I'll never hurt you,
I won't make you cry.

Stay forever
No matter what my happen,
Don't give up on me.
Do whatever
I'll never let go
I will catch your fall.

Throught the sunny and dark side (I'll fly)
Feelings like this are made (to survive)
What the rest of the world thinks (doesn't matter)
Because we know it better.

Stay forever and ever,
You will always be my baby.
Stay forever,
I'll never hurt you,
I won't make you cry.

Stay forever
No matter what my happen,
Don't give up on me.
Do whatever
I'll never let go
I will catch your fall.

Stay forever and ever,
You will always be my baby.
Stay forever,
I'll never hurt you,
I won't make you cry.
