Calmly but lively
Already as a small boy Piero showed his enormous creativity…with Lego.
Later in his childhood, Piero discovered mechanical toys, which he analyzed in detail again and again. His favourite occupation consisted of taking the toys apart so that he saw how a "interior life" functioned!
"Piero was a calm though lively boy", tells Rosetta, the mother of Piero.
For 9 years, Piero played in the Ae school of music, and besides that he took Percussion instruction for one year.
At the age of 15 years Piero enrolled into the music academy Basel. During this very intensive year he played many different Percussion instruments: xylophone, bass drum, Vibraphone and Marimba. Apart from the normal school attendance he had to practice daily up to 6 hours.  With time however, Piero’s desire to play classical music direction passed…he wanted absolutely "Rock'n roll"!

The Singer

Piero likes to dress elegantly and sway to the music of Vic Vergeant...which is verging on the gay to me. As a Brit, it's always difficult to draw any conclusions from the Swiss...they may as well be from the moon for all I understand them.

The Past
The inaugural champions as represented by a Cypriot, the Swiss have never been afraid of looking abroad to develop their interests in European light entertainment. In the days of yore when ballards ruled the Eurosong firmament, Switzerland was a power to behold, and had many a strong performance. Lys Assia was the acceptable face of Swiss Eurosong, when compared to their other victory in '88. Beelzebub sent a minion to Earth in a puff ball skirt that year, who has since gone on to suck souls from millions of demented folk the world over, the type of people who thought Princess Diana was a "true angel". Yes, Canadian Dion was the last "success" for Switzerland, and I argue that the nil points that they secured in the semi final in 2004 was an artistic failure of similar merit. They have never sent anything worth listening to...but it's Switzerland were talking about here...I'm not surprised in the least.

The Song

Russ Abbott does the Jackson Five...badly. This is the song I'm most likely to swear at this year. I think I've got through the entire track only twice, which is more than enough.
Unfortunately it's unlikely we'll see Piero play any of his many percussion instruments on stage, which leaves the field open for Ruslana and her tambourine.

" na na na" factor - Low
"celebrate" factor - High

Overall

2004's Lior Narkis, Piero has got his work cut out. I can only hope his performance will be a festival of Swiss cheese, celebrating rather than attempting to hide, the many holes in the quality of writing, singing, and production.

In a Nutshell
"Move along. There's nothing to celebrate here"

Celebrate

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place

Nobody knows what the future brings
So don't you worry 'cause I know one thing
All your friends are right here by your side
Everything is gonna be alright

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place

Tomorrow you can get deep on me
Teach me all about philosophy
I won't mind to listen all day long
But for now I only want to say

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place

Clap your hands
Celebrate
Oh, 'cause the world is a beautiful place

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let's celebrate
Celebrate, oh celebrate
'Cause the world is a beautiful place
'Cause the world is a beautiful place
'Cause the world is a beautiful place
