So wet behind
the ears he needs regular salt infusions in his neck, Tom Dice is a fresh
faced lad from the lowlands who has travelled to LA with his favourite
instrument...yes he never goes anywhere without his hair straighteners.
Normally recording music videos on the West Coast of Ostend, Tom took
his first ever flight (to the US) to record "Me and My Guitar",
a simple ballard with a message of perseverance and ennui. He worries
that he might have to get a 9-5 job if his career fails to jump start.
The jury's still out whether he'll have to sell TinTin comics, repair
tortoise shell glasses, or take the easy option and become a Brussels
bureaucrat deciding on the heritage status of string vests. Now I'm no
Waterman-like impressario but even I could tell him that you're never
going to be a superstar unless you're willing to mix it up a bit. So get
dressed, straighten your hair, and try to get over your fear of flying,
you fool.
It's a solid enough effort to cruise into the Final, and from there I
expect it to dock safely in mid table. There's a growing buzz about this
aeffort as the Eurovision week has progressed, and could do better than
many people think.
