What do I think of this?

Pipping Melodifestivalen songs such as Unstoppable and Kom, Sweden's effort this year must be a corker, surely? The heavyweights of ESC have chosen Anna Bergendahl, a slightly eccentric balladeer who decides after 30 seconds of her performance that her guitar is a bad idea and dispnses with it Madame Popov-like.
Although she initially comes across as someone who's taken a combination of uppers and gin, you may well warm to sottish Anna Bergendahl, even though it looks like she might be using a coat of Eggshell white emulsion as mascara. She is singing a simple little ballard called "This is my life", notable for funky pumps and child-like innocence. She's only 19 so Eammonn Andrews would have little to get his teeth into, and her youth is reflected in the banal lyrics. Marks off for lazy grammar (I cant' be no-one else...tsk), but marks back on for twee home-spun optimism.
I had it down as qualifying with ease from the 2nd semi final, which in a major shock she failed to do. I went on to say that it may "find it hard to live up to Swede's expectations on the Saturday event". I'll say, and then some. Shame.

Biography

Anna Bergendahl, Sweden's new pop princess, was born and raised in Nyköping, a small town not far from Stockholm and will represent her native country in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.
Her parents early recognized Anna's love for music and bought her first guitar when she was only eight. She started to write her first songs at the age of ten. She was one of the competitors in the Swedish TV-show Super Troupers performing a very personal version of Wild Cherry's classic hit Play That Funky Music. In 2008 she auditioned for the Swedish Idol performing the Bonnie Raitt song Have A Heart and the jury instantly praised her and her vocal abilities. Later on, she became a huge hit in the Swedish download charts.

After Idol Anna was of course contacted by a number of record companies: everyone wanted to sign her! However it was the intimate and professional feeling Lionheart International gave her that made her make her decision to sign both a record, publishing and management deal with them. Anna won the Melodifestivalen with a landslide victory with her song This Is My Life. The song has since then reached No.1 in all Swedish charts.

This is my life

I go down the beaten track
'Long the river with an empty bag
At the end she said to me:
"Why are you here with the autumn leaves?"

'Cause this is my life, my friend
And this is my time to stand
Now this is my life, my friend
And I can't be no one else

I'm done, tipping on my toes
Striking iron and attack my soul
Misty moon, you're gonna see
I've got your blues to get on my feet

'Cause this is my life, my friend
And this is my time to stand
'Cause this is my life, my friend
And I can't be no one else

I don't wanna run, I don't wanna fight
I don't wanna hide, I just wanna stay free
To be me
I don't wanna win, I don't wanna lose
I don't wanna play, I just wanna remember
Oh, my name

'Cause this is my life, my friend
And this is my time to stand
Oh, ooh...

('Cause this is my life, my friend
(And this is my time to stand)
Now this is my life, my friend
And I can't be no one else
'Cause this is my life, my friend
And I can't be no one else

'Cause this is my life, my friend
