What do I think of this?

Norway have been feeling slightly uncomfortable over the last week or so. The last time so many Germans descended on their country they had to make "The Heroes of Telemark". And indeed our teuton cousins are placing much hard earned Euros on their biggest chance of victory for some years. The only time Germany have won the Eruosong was with a naively innocent Nicole espousing "a little peace", an irony not lost on many at the time. In this day and age of dumbing down, it seems apt that the message Lena is putting across is her about her blue underwear and painted nails.
A funny sounding little thing, Lena tends to graps her belly throughout the performance which puts in mind yesterday evening's bad scampi. Her voice is almost indescribable, but I'll have a go and say it's like a Germanic Aussie adolescent boy on helium.
The song is a bit retro 60's, a sound that's been quite popular in the UK, by acts like Winehouse/Allen/ MacDonald/Duffy/etcetc which guarantee a few votes, and they should also garner votes from Greece who have been given a loan to keep them in ouzo for tonight's festivities. The song shot straight into early favouritism and has only recently been shifted ffrom the top by the Azeris. And although her singing isn't the strongest in the field, I think the Germans have got enough novelty in the panther tank this year to bring home the bratwurst. Berlin 2011?

Biography

It's a story that only pop music could write. Lena Meyer-Landrut from Hanover is actually right in the middle of preparing for her high school exams. She's doing Biology, Sport and History and she's got a lot of revising to do. But now she's going to be representing Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in the Norwegian capital Oslo. On the 29th of May, 2010, just after her 19th birthday, she'll be up on the big stage performing the song Satellite. "It's going to be hard going up to the exams in April, but I'll manage," she says with a sigh. "Then it will almost be relaxing to head off to the Eurovision final."
Pretty much out of nowhere - apart from the homemade dance videos and a few attempts with the school band - she conquered the audience's heart. "I didn't tell my friends about my first casting, so there wouldn't be any stupid comments if I got kicked out straight away," she says, thinking of her terrible stage fright. Even though Lena danced regularly during her childhood - from Ballet to Jazz and Hip Hop - she made her way to music without piano lessons or vocal training. But she got her chance, grabbed it and developed rapidly.
Directly after the German national final, her single Satellite went already to the top of all the most important download portals. Lena even created a new German download record!

Satellite

I went everywhere for you
I even did my hair for you
I bought new underwear, they're blue
And I wore 'em just the other day

Love, you know I'll fight for you
I left on the porch light for you
Whether you are sweet or cool
I'm gonna love you either way

Love, oh love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you
'Cause I, oh I, can't go a minute without your love
Like a satellite, I'm in orbit all the way around you
And I would fall out into the night
Can't go a minute without your love

Love, I got it bad for you
I saved the best I have for you
You sometimes make me sad and blue
Wouldn't have it any other way

Love, my aim is straight and true
Cupid's arrow is just for you
I even painted my toenails for you
I did it just the other day

Love, oh love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you
'Cause I, oh I, can't go a minute without your love
Like a satellite, I'm in orbit all the way around you
And I would fall out into the night
Can't go a minute without your...
Love, oh love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you
'Cause I, oh I, can't go a minute without your love

Where you go, I follow
You set the pace, we'll take it fast and slow
I'll follow in your way
You got me, you got me
A force more powerful than gravity
It's physics, there's no escape

Love, my aim is straight and true
Cupid's arrow is just for you
I even painted my toenails for you
I did it just the other day

Love, oh love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you
'Cause I, oh I, can't go a minute without your love
Like a satellite, I'm in orbit all the way around you
And I would fall out into the night
Can't go a minute without your...
Love, oh love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you
'Cause I, oh I, can't go a minute without your love
Love, love, love, love, love
