Biography

The 22-year-old Didrik Solli-Tangen from Heistad outside of Porsgrunn debuted on TV last Autumn, when he performed the classics. About 2 million television viewers watch the performance of the young tenor, who is a student at the prestigious conservatory Barratt Due in Oslo. ESC-winner Alexander Rybak is also it's graduate. Solli-Tangen comes from a musical family, and it was his father who encouraged him to take vocal lessons. In 2004 he began taking private singing lessons with teaching with teacher Anders Vangen, and the two have made a series of concerts together. Anders has convinced Didrik to try singing opera.
Over the years, Didrik has toured in the United States under the auspices of Culture enthusiasts and New York Opera Society, and performed for audiences in large U.S. cities such as Chicago and Washington. In the Eurovision Song Contest Didrik will perform a powerful ballad written by the experienced songwriters Hanne Sorvaag and Fredrik Kempe. The latter is even an opera singer and pop artist himself, and has previously written buckets of songs for the Swedish Eurovision.
Didrik himself emphasizes that he does not go into the ESC with huge ambitions to secure top spot on the podium: I don't have a strong competitive feeling on this, but look at it as a great opportunity to show myself off.
